My name is Kimberly Pugh and I have been an Inclusion teacher at Choctaw County High School for five years.  I have had the opportunity work with some wonderful students and teachers during my time at CCHS.  I have also had the opportunity to be a mentor teacher for student interns from Mississippi State.  I currently serve on the Advisory Board at the Choctaw County Career and Vocational Center.

I graduated from Starkville High School in 1985 and Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication in 1989.  At that time, I moved to New Orleans with my husband while he attended Seminary.  I became a stay-at-home mom in 1993.  After 14 years, I returned to school at Mississippi College.  While attending school, I worked part-time on contract with the Starkville School District as a Reading Therapist.  I also worked as a private Dyslexia Therapist.  I completed my Master of Education in Dyslexia Therapy degree in 2009 and became a Certified Academic Language Therapist.  In 2012, I began working as a Special Education teacher at Choctaw County High School.

My husband is Associate Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Starkville.  We have three boys.  Nathan (24) is attending East Mississippi Community College working toward attaining his R.N. credentials.  Thomas (21) is attending Mississippi State University working toward a degree in Marketing.  Caleb (18) is a Starkville High School Senior.  He plans to attend East Central Community College.

I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, reading and I just learned to crochet.  I love my students and it makes me so happy to see them do well. My philosophy about my students is that each one of them can achieve whatever God has planned for them.  It is fun to discover different strategies that meet the student’s educational needs and allow them the opportunity to learn and grow.  I am overwhelmed by the honor of being Choctaw County High School Teacher of the Year.
